OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY FOR CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS WITH SENSORY NEEDS AND INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES

Sensory Connections is a pediatric occupational therapy clinic, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of infants/toddlers, children, adolescents with sensory processing, motor, self-regulation, retained reflexes, and learning challenges. We focus on the needs of the family, each child’s strengths, and individual differences through a play-based approach.

WHY OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

A child’s most important job is to play and to learn. Often the best way for children to learn is through play, allowing them to be creative, how to move their bodies, engage and interact with others.

For children, play skills and activities including running, climbing, swimming, drawing, writing, and pretending are their “occupation”. For some children this is natural. For others, these activities can be very challenging.

Occupational therapists help support:
Participation and engagement in new and challenging activities
Helping children to gain confidence in themselves
Improvement in emotional regulation, body coordination, and learning skills
